For Science have called it quits. The band explained the peculiar situation:
No, this isn't a joke, and I understand it comes at time when lots of other bands are breaking up but it's a coincidence. This probably sounds too ridiculous to be true, but our singer and my friend John Slover had an acid freakout which led him to pack up his stuff and move to New Orleans on a complete whim without telling anyone, then continue on to Hawaii. I doubt we'll be able to play any kind of last show due to the circumstances, at least not anytime soon, and I know that kinda sucks. We are still playing at the cake shop on the 16th, and its gonna be something weird, but it was always going to be.

Montreal's CPC Gangbands have called it quits. Vocalist Roy 'Choyce' Vucino commented:
A few years back i started the Gangbangs knowing is gonna be a pretty rough and tumble ride. We brought a bit of chaos and lots of rock 'n' roll wherever we went and had a blast doing so. Following the departure of key members and the arrest of another in the USA it has become impossible for us to continue. The core of the band will continue to record and push the ideals of the band under the moniker RED MASS
You fan find more details on Red Mass as MySpace. Bassist Tommy Kitsos has most recently been performing as part of John Reis' Night Marchers. Other CPC members have performed or recorded with acts such as the Cockroaches, Chocolat, les Enfants Sauvages, PiPi, Mark Sultan, Bestalita and Ghost Limbs.

After more than a decade together, Holland's I Against I have called it a day. The band explained:
We toured all over europe, were the first European band to ink a deal with Epitaph, played shows with the likes of ALL, Bad Religion, Descendents, Down By Law, Rancid and made a lot of friends. It has all been a blast but time has come to pursue other things.
The band released albums with Epitaph Records and Moondown Records including 1998's Headcleaner.
It has been a long, fun, and awesome run, and we had a great time over the years. unfortunately, as sometimes happens when people lead busy lives, time becomes an issue and we can no longer make the band happen the way it should. there is no bad blood, there is no "drama", and there are no hard feelings. the plain truth is that we are 5 guys going in 5 directions- and each one doing a million different bands and projects and things in their personal lives that make it impossible for us to continue to be a band anymore. it's all good. we will live on.

UK-based metalcore act Johnny Truant have called it quits:
We have had many amazing years and made many great friends along the way. Thank you to everyone that has supported us and shared so many amazing times with us, it's been a hell of a ride and one that we are very proud of. Our final shows will be in the UK December. Come along and lets make them the biggest party we can.
The band recently released their Ferret debut full length, No Tears For the Creatures.

Brooklyn's Nakatomi Plaza have announced plans to break up after their appearance at The Fest this year:
[Our band] has entered the process of disbanding. I say "process" because that's exactly what it is. It's nearly impossible to end something overnight that you've been involved with for a decade, but it is in-fact ending, and very soon. I wanted to tell everyone (particularly our friends that do not live in the Northeast and that may be attending the Fest 7 in Gainesville, FL this weekend) to encourage you to come see the band this Sunday at 7:30pm at Durty Nelly's for one of our final performances.
We hope to enter the studio by the end of this year and finally record these songs we've been working on for the last year and a half. We are too proud of them to let them go undocumented. And hopefully not too long afterwards, we will play an undetermined amount of farewell / record release shows centered around the Northeast. These will surely be very special events and we hope you can attend.
Statements from each band member can be found here.

Ska/punk outfit The Fad have called it a day. According to a blog entry written by vocalist Jimmy Doyle, contributing factors include the destruction of their van and trailer, as well as the varying goals of the members.
Stabbed In Back is on permanent-indefinite-hiatus. It's been awhile since we broke up, and honestly it's long overdue to announce it officially to you all. I think we were holding out hoping that it could be kept alive--but to no avail.
We're glad the short life of the band meant as much to you as it did to us. Enough time has passed now that there has been some talk of eventually releasing our LP--many of you are asking for it, and unfortunately some of our favorite songs went unrecorded.

New Brunswick, New Jersey''s Hunchback is calling it quits. The band formed in 2001 and released two full lengths and an EP, with their most recent album being 2008's Pray For Scars on Don Giovanni Records.
Hunchback is scheduled to play Tomkins in Brooklyn, New York on November 8.
We will be playing our last show ever on Saturday November 1st at the Grease pit in Milford, CT. The European tour has been amazing and as a band, we agreed to end things on a high note today after our show in France.
We apologize to anyone who was involved or planning on coming out to the Salt The Wound tour. We will most likely release our new material at some point via Uprising Records, for those interested.

Chattanooga, TN's Across Five Aprils are calling it quits. The band announced:
I could spend all day on here telling you why A5A is calling it quits but the simple truth is we've all just gotten to a point where we have chosen to move on, and we wouldn't have changed our experience with A5A for anything in the world. A5A got to make some of our biggest dreams come true. We got to play with our favorite bands and we befriended our heroes and had the times of our lives. We have become world travelers visiting and playing in Mexico, Canada, Japan, Mainland Europe, UK, Scandinavia, and every state in the continental 48. It truly has been a wild and amazing ride. And we have gotten to write and perform music that was uncompramized and of our own convictions. We never conformed we never did anything musicaly except exactly what we chose. Thank you once again for letting us have this amazing opportunity.
While I cant take the time to tell you exactly why this is happening I can take some time and tell you what reasons are not true to dispel some common rumors that some inquiring minds will undoubtedly wish to now. We have not been dropped from VICTORY RECORDS, contrary to what the PRP reported. We are however not a CURRENT ARTIST because we have made the arrangements with VICTORY to disband. We want to thank TONY and VICTORY for their constant support in everything we did. I can also tell you we did not have a knock down drag out fight internally or with any other band. We are all still friends and will continue to stay close for the rest of our lives.
The band also announced their final tour. Click below for the dates.

London's Dirty Pretty Things have called it quits. The band is notable for featuring former Libertines members members Carl Barât and Gary Powell, as well as that band's touring guitarist Anthony Rossomando (also of New York/Boston band the Damn Personals). The band announced:
It is with some sadness we announce the farewell of the Dirty Pretty Things. It's been a glorious three years which we all would gladly live out again, but it is time for us to try new things. (not The Libertines). We are reluctant to give up touring but will give the last waltz everything we have and are determined to go out as we came in, after which we all have other ventures to be getting on with and splendid future plans. Heartfelt thanks to all who made it what it was, much love and we'll see you on the road.
Dirty Pretty Things most recently Romance at Short Notice earlier this year.
No matter what anyone thought of us, we were a blue collar band. We never had the hype that many more recent bands enjoy. We toured our asses off, partied all over the world, and wrote music that we loved to play. Since the Flood never made any money and never turned into a true business.
Why the break-up? Gas prices? Member issues? Yup. But those aren't the main reasons. It's just time to move on. For Chuck, Kevin, and Rob that time came sooner than later, but for Dave, Nate, Ricky, Dan and I, the time is now. There's no anger or bitterness it's just time to start a new chapter in our lives and careers.

Regina, Saskatchewan's Means have announced their breakup.
Grateful to have been a part of this band, through such formative years of life, all while having the opportunity to share in something meaningful to each of us; Music. For the outlet of this particular sound, which we cherish and trust, and for those of you who shared these years and become the community that surrounds us, we are ever grateful. Thank you for the camaraderie that we share and for your sincerity and spirit.
As a band, we are proud of the miles behind us and the work ethic we maintained even though nothing-is-perfect. We are proud that we were a band that was able to laugh with one another and at ourselves along the way, often to the point of vomiting, crying, soiling etc., or all-of-the-above. Happy for all the pathetic inside jokes that for good reason mean nothing to anyone but us. Finally, we are proud of one another and the people we are becoming; trusting that through the experience of playing in this band we are growing to be more compassionate and understanding individuals.
The band will play one final tour starting this October, playing shows in Canada and the US midwest. The Eastern Canadian portion of the tour will be part of the Underground Operations Unity Tour that will feature Kathleen Turner Overdrive while the western dates will feature Horizons. Means will disband after a final performance scheduled for November 29th in Regina. Confirmed dates are to be announced soon.
After almost ten years of NMDS there seems to be no more dead horse left to kick. We will be playing a pre-Fest show in Tampa on October 29th, and The FEST itself looks like it will be our final show as NMDS. Thanx to everyone that have been rad over the years. You know who you are.
On a couple of positive notes, there are no hard feelings between any of us, and we have our new bands GATORFACE and VIRGINS both releasing shit this year. There is also a new project in the works with a certain sadistic magician that hopefully some of you will be stoked about.
