Media: Ben Nichols: "The Last Pale Light In The West"

RCRDLBL has posted an interview and free download from Ben Nichols. Nichols, the frontman of Lucerorecently announced plans to release his new solo debut.
The record is titled The Last Pale Light in the West and is due out January 20, 2009. Nichols entered the studio this past August with Rick Steff (Cat Power, Lucero) and Todd Beane (Glossary) to record this seven track mini-LP which features songs inspired from the Cormac McCarthy book Blood Meridian. Nichols self-released a download-version of the album earlier this year.

Seattle, WA's Helms Alee have posted a new song streaming on the Hydra Head blog. The song is from their forthcoming seven inch for Hydra Head with "Lionize" on one side and "Truly" on the other.

Popular Canadian punk band Sum 41 have posted a track from their recently announcedGreatest Hits record. The disc appears to be a Japan-only release and will feature one new song, "Steering Wheels," as well as seventeen songs and a DVD compiling the band's music videos.

The Almost (members of Underoath) have posted their cover of the "Little Drummer Boy." The classic Christmas staple is one of the tracks that appears on the group's forthcoming EP. The record is titled No Gift To Bring and is due out November 25, 2008.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have posted their new single, "You
Better Pray. The song eschews some of the band's emo/rock influences for a more Guns'n'Roses-tinged hard rock approach. The song will be included on the band's upcoming,
as-yet-untitled album which will hit stores in early 2009. The band released their previous full length, Don’t You Fake It, in 2006.

Paramore have launched an acoustic version of their new track, "Decode." The song comes from the soundtrack to the upcoming film Twilight. The film is due in theatres November 21st.
Along with one other song from Paramore, the soundtrack is expected to include a remixed "Supermassive Black Hole" from Muse, and a song from Perry Farrell.

Recent Relapse signing, Tombs, have posted a new track from their forthcoming Relapse debut. The atmospheric hardcore outfit previously released Tombs on Black Box/Level Plane. Our review described the band as "brooding, shoegazey, metallic hardcore bombast."
The new record is expected in February 2009 and you can check out "Gossamer" on their myspace page.

The Bronx's brand new album is streaming now. The record is titled The Bronx III and is due out November 11, 2008. It is the follow-up to The Bronx II which was released in 2006.

Alkaline Trio's performance from Jimmy Kimmel is now available online. The track comes from the band's major label debut, Agony & Irony. The band is in the midst of a two-month tour with Rise Against, Thrice and the Gaslight Anthem.
